How Much Does Corporate Team Building Cost?
Most Social Scavenger experiences land in the $30, $50, or $75 per person range, covering the Classic, Premier, and Gold tiers. Amazing Race starts at $150 per person and can run considerably higher, since live stations and added experiences don't have a fixed ceiling (more on that below). The cleanest path to an exact number is sharing your event details, and if you're working with a fixed budget, share the range and we'll do our best to make it fit. Across every format, real events have ranged from $600 to $100,000+. Get a quote →
Pricing by Tier
| Tier | Price | Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | $30 per person | $600 |
| Premier | $50 per person | $1,000 |
| Gold | $75 per person | $3,750 |
| Amazing Race | $150 per person, and up | $20,000, and up |
Classic and Premier are a flat rate, not a hard headcount minimum. A group of 8 and a group of 20 both pay the same $600 (Classic) or $1,000 (Premier). Once you cross 20 people, it moves to straight per-person pricing. Example: 25 people at Classic tier = $750. 30 people = $900. 40 people = $1,200.
The core game is similar across Classic, Premier, and Gold. The differences are the production layers wrapped around it. Premier adds a virtual game day team, surprise reveals, and a video editor (real human) who builds a curated highlight reel. Gold adds Gold Star challenges to create more winning conditions / prizes, custom videos, and an expanded finale - so these are great for larger groups - though not really for a group of 15 people. You just don't need more winners. Our job is to give you the best options to reach your goals on budget.
Amazing Race pricing has no fixed ceiling. The base rate is $150 per person with a $20,000 minimum, but Amazing Race is a live-facilitator, multi-station format, and the stations themselves can include almost anything: drone flyovers mid-game, a curling rink built into a station, fully custom productions tied to your event theme. Each add-on is quoted individually, so the cost stays known and predictable at every step, but there's no upper limit on how far it can be built out. If you want a fully bespoke, production-heavy day, Amazing Race is the format built for that.
We also build Amazing Races from scratch if you'd like to travel through 3 swiss villages or do it all across a fully booked out conference center / resort.
Classic tier includes the full app (posters, scoring, leaderboards, real-time judging, AI twists, instant slideshow), a customizable briefing video, and all digital assets needed to run the game. No in-person host, no custom build, no white-label app. For groups where budget is the main constraint, see the tight-budget guide for which formats keep cost down without thinning the experience.
What Changes the Price
Five things move the number: group size, format/tier, customization, extending the event timing (by hours or days) and whether you add an onsite host.
Onsite host add-on. Cost depends on group size, date, and location. As a rule of thumb, an onsite host makes sense once the budget already includes Premier or Gold tier. Adding one to a Classic-tier event is usually a budget mismatch. See App vs. Onsite Host for the full breakdown of when it's worth it. We have a video host no matter what (provided you can watch a video with your group).
Customization. Light customization (a few company-specific challenges) can be added to any tier game without changing the base tier price much - normally you are looking at around $300 and we'll help you out with some great ideas - but these are all about you. Ground-up custom is a separate cost entirely (see below).
Pricing at Scale (200+ People)
Per-person tier pricing applies to most events. Once a group passes roughly 200 people, flat-rate pricing becomes available, since per-person math stops scaling proportionally at that size. Past events have run for groups of 1,000 to 5,000+, the largest was a 5,000-person Hyundai program across multiple offices. A discovery call sizes the right structure for large groups. See also Large Groups (100 to 300+).
Ground-Up Custom Games
A fully custom build (designed from a blank page around your event, story, or industry, not a tier game with extras added) is a one time fixed cost. If we are doing a few customizations - that's a simple add on of $300. If we are building you a new theme around a game or location (like your campus) that could be closer to $1,500. If this is a full on story based game with actors, video pop ups, your team built into the game - it has no 'limit' - though $20K is probably a high end fully custom company wide game. It really 'just depends' on what type of customization you want. Elaborate multi-country productions have run mid-six-figures. Group size and production complexity (custom assets, video work, multi-location logistics) are the biggest cost drivers. See Custom Conference Games for real examples and what's involved.
Smaller Groups and Nonprofits
Because Classic and Premier are flat-rate up to 20 people, smaller groups pay the same $600 or $1,000 whether they're 8 people or 20. If that flat rate is still a stretch, especially for a nonprofit or charity with a genuinely tight budget, reach out directly. Pricing officially holds at the standard rate, but there's often flexibility to find something that works for smaller or budget-constrained groups. Worth raising during the discovery call rather than assuming it won't fit.
Why Budget for This
Team building is a small line item next to what it's protecting against. A few reference points:
- Highly engaged teams are 23% more profitable and 18% more productive than the least engaged teams (Gallup, State of the Global Workplace).
- Replacing an employee costs 50% to 200% of their annual salary once recruiting, ramp time, and lost productivity are counted (SHRM).
- The average corporate conference or offsite runs $150 to $1,000+ per attendee. Team building at $30 to $75 per person is a fraction of typical per-attendee event spend.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum group size?
No hard minimum but you'll want at least 6 players to have a great event. Classic and Premier are a flat rate ($600 and $1,000) that covers any group up to 20 people, so smaller groups pay the same flat rate rather than a per-head minimum.
What's the least expensive Social Scavenger format?
We have an 'original' tier in some instances (for certain games) that's actually only $20pp. But most every game is available in the Classic tier, $30/person above 20 people, $600 flat for groups up to 20. But at the end of the day - we try to make it work - while doing 500 person Microsoft events, pays the bills, we don't want to leave anyone out where we can accommodate you - we will.
Do prices differ for nonprofits?
We have a 15% discount for not for profits and try to be flexible with minimums for smaller groups. Just ask about this when you reach out.
How much does an onsite host cost?
It varies by group size, date, and mostly location, priced during the discovery call. We have hosts in many cities, but if we are flying somebody to a Tokyo Amazing Race - we have to price that properly. Generally only makes sense once the event budget already includes Premier or Gold tier.
How much does a custom game cost compared to a tier game?
Tier games (Classic/Premier/Gold) start at $30 to $75 per person with light customization available. Ground-up custom builds are a separate cost, averaging around $20,000.
Is there a maximum cost for Amazing Race?
No fixed ceiling. The base rate is $150 per person with a $20,000 minimum, but live stations and add-on experiences (drones, custom builds, elaborate productions) are quoted individually and can extend well beyond that. Costs stay known and predictable at each step even though there's no upper limit overall.
